I have an S-Reg Clio. Drives great. It has started to refuse to start probably every once out of four times. We recently had the timing belt done and replaced the other belts, the battery is fine and the starter motor obviously turns over o.k. Anyone any other suggestions to check? It was being a little bit temporamental before the belts were done.

Check the starter motor wire, it is common on these Renault's for the starter motor wire to corrode. When you go over a speed bump or any kind of sudden movement, for example, the engine shutting off can move the wire away. This then causes a problem starting. Sometimes, a simple push on the front suspension can knock the wire back into place. You need to replace the corroded wire.
If you check the wire and it is not corroded, then please let me know.
Cheers
