hi clarky here, can any body help me with my cam timing on my micra which i belivehas not been set up correctly.<br />The engine runs ok but seems to be holding back when driven normaly also every now and then it pops out of the exhaust.<br />Also it runs very lumpy on tick over, but revs ok.<br />Upon looking at the cam timing through inspection cover it looks like it has had the timing chains replaced with a rectro fit kit as the chains only have one different colured link on them therefore i canot tell where the cams should be (the sprokets have dots on them)so can any one help with the positioning of them. many thanks <br />clarky.
Hi, First thing I would have to ask is, what year is the micra and what year is the primera you plan on taking the donor plant from? You are also aware that you may have to strengthen the body, upgrade the brakes and suspension to do this aren't you?
I can understand why some people enjoy spending thousands on projects like this as at the end they have a one of a kind car, which is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Which is ok, but the insurance will hit you big time for modification.
I am not trying to put you off and will help all I can, but I have to let you know the facts before you get your hopes up. If you still want to do it, then go ahead and tell me what year the micra and primera are?
It all depends on the vehicle, a lot of factors come in to play, including weight, bhp, gearing, etc... I would need to know the exact make and model of vehicles to give a definitive answer!

hi I am a high school student working on a project titled as mentioned above. Could someone fill me in on where I could find appropriate sources for this? Basically I would like to: 1) analyse a comparison between very similar engines,( varying only in displacement) and seeing how bore/stroke ratios affect their performance. 2) I need well supported theoretical information on how piston shape and dimensions could be optimised with respect to factors like friction etc. (cant think of any other :( )
